Patrick's Top Five

Some very neat variations of the Christmas songs we hear year after year and it’s got a very personal touch to it!! I loved ‘We three kings’ and ‘Away in a manger’ in particular  … and ‘Up on the housetop’ get you ready for the arrival of Santa Claus!!!

Christmas is time for the family and what better way to do that than bringing out a holiday record with them? Nice homespun variations on the traditional ones – GOD REST YE MERRY GENTLEMEN, JINGLE BELLS and UP ON THE HOUSE. The voice of the kids singing with enthusiasm is the ultimate greeting for the Season WE WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS; it’s like from my house to your house.

Here is a nice Blues album from a talented and accomplished artist. Patrick Sassone began his musical adventure at the age of five with the accordion and taught himself to play the guitar in his early teens. He is an accomplished singer, songwriter and musician. In his recent album "Coming Home", Patrick plays his electric guitar smoothly and cleanly. His vocals have an expressive style that is heartfelt and warming.

One of my favorite tracks on the album is "Dreams", where Mr. Sassone sings "If some dreams have lost their way, dream again and start a brand new day", with a solid rhythm that just keeps going. Lyrics for these fine songs are written by Patrick and his partner Barbara Sassone. I highly recommend this collection of fine songs to anyone who likes excellent Blues music.

This package – Coming home, has chips of Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Eagles and Lynyrd Skynyrd in it. Raspy vocals backed by the solid bass lines and 70’s style guitar rhythm augur well for a raw and powerful sound. There is always something about that straight up sound; it gets into your head and stays there, so right now 'What was I thinking blues' and' I want to know' are playing on and on on repeat. Fantastic album.
